How Sumaira Abdulali influenced policy and reduced noise

Sometimes an act of bravery becomes a cause that ultimately benefits an entire community. That’s what happened when Sumaira Abdulali got involved in a noise issue in the state of Maharashtra over 20 years ago. Since then, she challenged the courts, the government, and the police about noise pollution. As a result, the government established noise policies to reduce the most raucous street noise. These policy changes benefitted millions of residents in Mumbai and beyond.
